Die vielfach ausgezeichnete Regisseurin Mati Diop dokumentiert die Rückgabe von 26 königlichen Artefakten vom Pariser Quai Branly-Museum an die Republik Benin – und stellt dabei grundlegende Fragen zu kolonialem Erbe, westlicher Erinnerungskultur und politischem Symbolismus.

Die Filmvorführung findet im Rahmen der Veranstaltung DeColonia LAB statt.

Die Rahmenveranstaltung DeColonia LAB bringt kreative Ausdrucksformen mit Community-Building zusammen. Ausstellung, Tanz, Musik, Film, Paneltalk und Workshop eröffnen dabei vielfältige Blicke auf dekoloniale und postmigrantische Perspektiven. Lokal verankert, global inspiriert – von Köln bis in die Welt.

DeColonia LAB ist ein kleiner Anfang einer großen Idee: Ein regelmäßig stattfindendes Festival für transkulturelle Kreativität, welches gemeinschaftlich verwirklicht wird. Somit versteht sich dieser Auftakt auch als Plattform und Netzwerktreffen für (post-)migrantische Initiativen aus Köln und darüber hinaus.
